January Wanderlust Yarn Club

I'm serious! I know it's almost the end of the longest month of the year. But somehow, between moving into my dye space, working on and submitting tax returns and having all of the offspring at home, I forgot to list the Mystery Yarn Club for January! I do apologies. It's now on the website, where it shall remain for another week, after which I will be making sure your orders go out within the first week of Februrary.
The inspiration for this colourway comes from a beautiful piece of African wax cloth that was part of a set I'd ordered from Dovetailed London Ltd. I've picked some of the colours from the fabric so just a heads up: It's not pink!

The Yarn Community

As you can probably tell, 2021 hasn't begun as smoothly as anticipated. But then, not much about the time we're in has been quite what we'd anticipated, has it? I hope you're crafting is providing you with some comfort and time for self-care as it is for me. I know that as well as actually dreaming up projects, picking out colour palettes and creating fabric with scrumptious yarn, interacting with other yarn crafters has really helped me during this lockdown. And actually meeting and talking to some of you on the Waltham Abbey Zoom Marketplace was just lovely! I've missed that! Just over a year ago, I was at the Knitting & Stitching Show in Harrogate where I got to meet Cathy. She offered to do some knitting for me and the beautiful Suri Silk Lace shawl above is the second she's made me. Isn't it just stunning! Regarding a sense of community and interacting with other yarn crafters, I have been toying with the idea of creating a Facebook group to share our projects (not solely Fruitful Fusion projects but anything that's keeping us content and at peace). So I thought I'd ask YOU if that's something you might be interested in. Or perhaps another forum would be better? Do let me know what you think.

From The New Dye Space!

I'm really enjoying having a designated dye space and as always I'm in full experimental mode while I work out which dye techniques will suit the space better. In the last update there were some of the usual favourites as well as some Merino Nylon Yak, which creates a lovely warm depth to the colourway. I do have plans for another new, but limited base, so stay tuned for more on that!

There's also a new collaborative colourway coming soon that I'm really excited about! Here's a little sneak peek of the colourway I dyed up for Mina of The Knitting Expat Podcast and her upcoming Sock Club.

More about this soon! In the meantime, stay warm (if you're in the Northern hemisphere!), enjoy your weekend and happy yarncrafting!
